To some cricket enthusiasts it may appear presumptuous of the United States to claim a modest place in cricket history. A generation reared in the belief that baseball and American-rules football are the main sporting endeavours of the United States may be surprised to learn that cricket has been played more or less seriously for over 300 years, and so far the only losers are the USA cricketers, but it looks like things are beiginingto change.

Important dates in US Cricket History:

 1709 William Byrd of Westover, Virginia, playing cricket with his friends

1737 Mention of cricket in Georgia

1742 Highland Scots celebrate St Andrew's Day in Savannah (Georgia) - founded only nine years before - by playing cricket

1751 A match recorded between New York and a London XI. played "according to the London method"; i.e. presumably in accordance with the 1744 rules

 1785 Canadians playing in Montreal

1838 Mexican CC in existence

1844 First match between Canada and the USA First known century scored in North America - 120 by J. Turner

1859 First touring team to leave England (captain, George Parr) visit the USA and Canada. Their matches drew large crowds and, together with their general experiences on the tour, were well-described by their scorer, Fred Lillywhite, in the first book in the long catalogue of "touring literature"

1874 First team from USA to visit England: team of baseballers who also played cricket

1878 The Australian team visits America on their way back from England

1880 First team from Canada visited England: not representative and the tour terminated prematurely

1884 First Gentlemen of Philadelphia team to visit England

1896 Haverford College toured and played English Public Schools

1903 Kent visit USA

1905 First MCC team visited USA and Canada; captain E. W. Mann

1961 United States Cricket Association founded

1963 Revival of USA v Canada match, last played in 1912

1965 United States elected to Associate membership of ICC

1968 Canada elected to associate membership of ICC

 2004 USA wins ICC Six Nations tournament and qualifes for the Champions Trophy 2004 ICC anounces Project USA, a multi-million dollar plan to expand the game. This was scrapped in 2005 after a major falling out with the USACA and serious governance issues within the US administration

2005 USACA suspended by the ICC and banned from all major events

2009 USACA is re-instated by ICC and a new CEO is appointed by USA Cricket Association with a belief that cricket will change across USA

2010 USA Cricket Association host T-20 International matches between Sri Lanka VS New Zealand at the only ICC certified cricket stadium in North America, located in the state of Broward County

2010 BIG LEAGUE USA launch themselves as the only 100% cricket oriented company in USA to make the "American Dream Of Cricket" come true

American College Cricket & BIG League USA have signed a strategic partnership deal in which BIG League USA will give an uplift to the current platform of the ACC. This partnership will ensure that students from all across USA & North America who are part of the ACC umbrella will benefit as BIG League USA is arranging for international coaches who have played test cricket before to coach cricket players from various unicversities. There will be more finances available for the ACC to continue their good or perhaps great work they have done in the past years. ACC remains to be the only platform for the budding cricket players of universities to play in and show their enthusiasm and talent. BIG League USA are delighted to be part of this and soon there will be an official launch of this strategic partnership. Soon there will be BIG Cricket Stores launched by BIG League USA and all the cricket players from the universities will be eligible for special discounts and benfits. The first flagship cricket store will be located in Long Island CIty, New York.

BIG League USA officials had the pleasure of meeting the ICC President, Mr.Sharad Pawar in New York during his visit, which was not for cricket but for his National Congress Party Convention for the North America Region. Mr.Pawar was very kind and listened to the dynamic plans of BIG League USA as ICC would like to see emerging cricket playing countries like USA, Canada and China do well. Mr.Pawar was impressed with some of our marketing tools we have developed for the region, in particular the full color "American Dream Of Cricket Exclusive Brochure" which has silver foiling and exhibits the only ICC Certified Cricket Stadium in North America, located at the Broward County.

It is rare that one meets a legend of the past and realizes that cricket players and cricket as a game has really changed. BIG League USA, CEO, Salman Ahmed had the utmost pleasure of meeting with the one time master opening batsman of West Indies, Mr.Gordon Greenidge. During this visit to the West Indies, meeting Gordon Greenidge was over wheliming and shaking hands with him was intimadating as his hands werehard rock. It explains now that all that hard hitting was nothing but sheer power and technique. Views Of Gordon Greenidge on the way cricket has changed were of great value, perhaps too valuable to share, unless it is done in person. It was a real treat and experince to meet the all time batting maestro, Gordon Greenidge, who showed interest in coming over to the US for coaching etc.

It was an absoolute and honor for BIG League USA's CEO, Salman Ahmed to meet HRH Prince Charles at the Buckingham Palace during his recent visit to London. Present were also other dignatories from the world of cricket, including the Chairman of MCC. HRH Prince Charles was keen on knowing about development of cricket in USA and talked about a game between USA XI vs England XI in the near future.

It was a great day for BIG League USA as Clive Hubert Lloyd, ICC Chairman for Cricket, Former Captain Of West Indies agreed to be the Head Of Advisory Board Of BIG League USA when Shafquat Chaudhary, President BIG League USA & Clive Lloyd met in New York and discussed on various aspects of developing cricket in USA. This will be done in association with USA Cricket Association, West Indies Cricket Board, Various Leagues, American College Cricket & anyone who has a desire to work towards betterment of cricket. This is a clear indication that the days ahead for cricket in USA are going to be full of excitement and development of cricket remains to be as priority NO.1

The season one of BBCL finished in a memorable way when fans in Florida witnessed a thrilling low scoring match between the two finanlists of the "South Florida Conference League " & " South Florida Cricket League" teams. The latter got the young guns out for a mere 119 off the 20 overs and the yougsters did not allow the experinced team of "SFCL" to get away with an easy win as the match was down to the wire and only finished with four balls to spare of the allotted 20 overs. The Chief Guest was former opening batsman of West Indies, the hard hitting "Gordon Greenidge". The MVP of the tournament was the iron man himself of the South East Region, Ken Singh. The prize distribution ceremony matched many of the International event ceremonies. The highlight of the evening was the applause by all the players and officials in acknowlidging the efforts of BIG League USA in bringing real cricket to the only ICC Certified Cricket Stadium in North America.

One can truly believe that dreams do come true as Adrian Gordon, MVP of the American College Cricket 2011 Championship was at the Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai where the Mumbai Indians were hosting the Rajasthan Royals in a historic match of the IPL as it was the farewell game of cricket's super hero, Shane Warne. Adrian Gordon spoke to CEO of BIG League USA, Salman Ahmed and was full of praise for the organization as without the joint efforts of the American College Cricket and BIG League USA this would not have been possible for an American Cricket Player to be in an IPL match practicing with an IPL Franchise and in company of several great players. This is just the begining and with time BIG League USA will continue to show that it is all out there to make the American Dream Of Cricket come true for talented players like Adrian Gordon and several others.

This young talented cricket player from North America is all kitted in blue and ready to join the Rajasthan Royals team and practise with them at the world famous Wankhade Stadium, where recently the World Cup 2011 Final was hosted, emailed Sean Morris, CEO of the Royals to Salman Ahmed, CEO, BIG League USA. This shows the commitment of the Rajasthan Royals management and their willingness to grow the interest for cricket players outside their boundaries. No wonder that the Royals are classified as on of the most professional IPL franchise. It was a special day in the life of Adrian Gordon in Mumbai as he was in the company of Shane Warne and British Actor, Liz Hurley. All this was due to the efforts of BIG League USA offering a platform to the MVP of American College Cricket for 2010. The initiative of BIG League USA to assist cricket at grass root level is evident when such opportunities are offered to local talent of North America. Till recent months none of the players within North America could have even imagined that they could be part of an IPL (Indian Premier League) franchise in the company of cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Shane Warne and also current heroes like Kieron Pollard, Botha, Shaun Tait and several others. This is the begining of the efforts of BIG League USA to take cricket to the next level across North America.
